AhlulBayt News Agency: Yona Yahav, the Mayor of Haifa, has called for the immediate evacuation and removal of the Bazan oil refinery and its parent company from the city, describing the facility as a major and existential threat in the aftermath of Iran’s recent retaliatory missile attacks.
According to a report by the Israeli daily *Maariv*, Yahav stated that post-strike assessments confirmed the inherent dangers posed by the Bazan Group's operations. He characterized the risk to residents as "clear and undeniable," urging the Israeli cabinet to take swift and decisive steps to relocate the refinery from the heart of the populated port city.
In a related development, Avihu Han, head of Haifa’s Environmental Protection Association, condemned the Bazan Group’s conduct, accusing it of "arrogance and irresponsibility." He stressed that the refinery’s presence in a densely populated urban area is no longer tenable and demanded an immediate halt to any reconstruction or repair efforts at the damaged site.
On Monday, "The Times of Israel" reported that the Bazan facility sustained significant structural damage during Iran’s missile response and may remain out of operation for several months.
The refinery was among several key sites targeted by Iranian forces as part of Tehran’s military retaliation . Strategic infrastructure in Haifa, including the oil complex, was struck during the 12-day conflict.
